Benning is a residential neighborhood east of the Anacostia River in Ward 7. Minnesota Avenue runs along its west side, East Capitol Street along its south side, and Benning Road wraps around the north and east, which is where the neighborhood gets its name. It's a place of brick rowhouses, small front yards and churches, with the Benning Road Metro on the Blue and Silver Lines. Need a weed dispensary near me open late? We deliver to Benning every night until 10PM.
Green Life DC Weed Dispensary And Marijuana Cannabis Delivery is a licensed dispensary at 7329 Georgia Ave NW. Delivery to Benning is free with no order minimum, in an unmarked car with live tracking. Please use a private home or apartment address in DC; we can't deliver to schools, libraries or federal park land.
The name goes back to Captain William Benning, who came up from Virginia in the late 1700s and bought about 330 acres here. A toll bridge across the Anacostia, Benning's Bridge, went up in the 1830s and became one of the main ways into the city from the east, and "Benning's Road" shows up on maps by 1861. During the Civil War, Fort Mahan was built on the hill above to guard that bridge. Most of the houses you see today came later, many of them 1950s-style rowhouses, and in 2016 the city's film office named Benning its Location of the Month for its classic working neighborhood look.
