The neighborhood is a mix of rowhouses, garden apartments and newer buildings, home to retirees, working families and plenty of kids. Its commercial side is growing fast: the city's Department of General Services moved its headquarters to a new six-story building on Minnesota Avenue in 2023, part of the larger Northeast Heights project that plans hundreds of new homes, shops and a full-service grocery store around the old Senator Theater and East River Park sites.
